All About Arthritis

Overview

Many people suffer from eye problems such as itching, blurriness, or drowsiness from time to time. Second, most eye disorders are temporary and will likely go away, causing no concerns. However, an eye doctor also referred to as an ophthalmologist, should evaluate unexpected eye issues and those that last more than a few days.

Sudden symptoms are common and can be warning signs of several serious eye disorders and conditions. Finally, a brief on ophthalmology, its problems, and treatments is discussed here; let’s look at it.

What is ophthalmology?

A physician who specializes in eye treatment is known as an ophthalmologist. Ophthalmologists are doctors who specialize in medical and surgical eye treatment. Ophthalmology is a medical specialty that focuses on diagnosing and treating eye problems. Surgical specialties in ophthalmology include abnormalities of the eye or diseases of various sections of the eye. Here are a few examples:

  • Surgery on the anterior segment
  • External illness, cornea, and ocular surface
  • Glaucoma
  • Oncology of the eye
  • Orbit surgery and oculoplastic
  • Pathology of the eye
  • Strabismus and pediatric ophthalmology (misalignment of the eyes)
  • Refractive surgery
  • The medical retina is concerned with the non-surgical management of retinal disorders.
  • Uveitis
  • Vitreoretinal surgery

Symptoms and when to visit an ophthalmologist?

  • Eye Twitching

Many people have had eye twitches at some point in their lives. A minor eye twitch can sometimes linger for weeks. It’s maybe linked to the pink eye or Tourette syndrome.

  • Itchy Eyes

Itchy, red eyes can be extremely irritating. If the itching becomes unbearable, you should seek advice from your eye doctor. Blepharitis and Dry eye syndrome are two disorders that can cause itching and irritation in the eyes.

  • Do you see spots or floaters in your vision?

Do you notice light threads floating around that move away when you look at them? It’s not uncommon for a huge floater to pop out of nowhere. It’s a good idea to consult a doctor if you’re concerned about a large spot in your eyesight. A serious eye condition can cause a huge floater. Please don’t ignore these signs because they signify various medical eye problems. The following conditions can cause floaters: Detachment of the retina, diabetic retinopathy, Detachment of the posterior vitreous, Stroke.

  • Sleepy Eyes

Tired eyes can make the rest of your body feel tired as well. Tired eyes could indicate more than just the need for glasses. Additionally, the following conditions can make your eyes tired: Dry eye syndrome, computer vision syndrome, farsightedness, and astigmatism are all conditions that affect the eyes.

  • Hazy vision

A variety of disorders can produce blurry vision or difficulty bringing objects into crisp focus. Vision might be temporarily obscured as a result of exhaustion or illness. Blurred vision can also be caused by the following eye conditions: Presbyopia, Myopia, Hypermetropia, Cataracts, Glaucoma so on and so far.

  • Age-Related Vision Issues

Your eyes grow vulnerable to diseases and difficulties as we age. in addition to losing our capacity to bring small objects into focus or see things well at a distance. Aging can lead to the following eye problems: Macular degeneration is a condition that affects people as they get older. Presbyopia, Cataracts, Detachment of the posterior vitreous.

  • Eye Problems in Children

Some children are born with eyesight abnormalities that go unnoticed for years. Often, families are the first to detect their children’s vision difficulties. Contact an eye care specialist right away if you see any issues with your child’s eyes or eyesight. Common eye conditions in children include Strabismus, lazy eye, and colorblindness.

Eye conditions/problems and treatments

Macular degeneration with age

Macular degeneration is a condition that affects the central portion of the retina. The Macula is in charge of sharp vision in ordinary living.

Dry macular degeneration and wet macular degeneration are the two kinds of macular degeneration.

Macular degeneration treatments

Dry AMD patients continue to use low vision optical equipment to help them see. On the other hand, Wet AMD is treated with medications or laser surgery to seal the leaking blood vessels.

Bulging Eyes

occur when the muscles tissue behind the eyes enlarge, causing both eyes to protrude from their sockets. Also, exposing the cornea to air makes it difficult to keep the eyes moist and lubricated.

Treatments for Bulging Eyes – Artificial tear solution or eye drops to lubricate and moisturize.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a condition caused by damage to the optic nerve that worsens over time. Additionally, an increase in intraocular pressure results. Glaucoma is a hereditary condition that usually manifests itself late in life. Chronic open-angle glaucoma, Acute closed-angle glaucoma, Secondary glaucoma, and Normal-tension glaucoma are the four different forms of glaucoma.

Glaucoma treatment

Initially, prescription eye drops delay the production of fluids in the eye, lowering eye pressure. Moreover, doctors also use highly focused laser beams to create an alternate hole in the iris.

Other eye diseases include – Cataracts, Conjunctivitis, Amblyopia, Entropion.

Diagnostic services and treatment options

  • Entropion – Surgery, botox injections, and the application of transparent skin tape to the eyelids
  • Blepharitis – Antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, root therapy, and immunomodulators are all options for treating blepharitis.
  • Dry eye – Eye drops, tear duct plugs, anti-inflammatory drugs, and surgery are all suggested for dry eyes.
  • Amblyopia is a Common eye abnormality that has no cure, especially after eight. However, addressing an underlying condition or forcing the affected retina to work can help develop eyesight.
  • Cataract – Surgical removal or prescription of spectacles or lenses.
  • Conjunctivitis – Antibiotics, tablets, antiviral drops, and ointments are all used to treat conjunctivitis.

After enduring knee pain for the past decade, my mother sought advice from various doctors in Nagpur, Nashik, and Pune. They all recommended knee replacement surgery, but it was only when we discovered Dr. Aashish Arbat and the option of robotics surgery that we made the decision to proceed.

The surgery took place on June 23, 2023, and it turned out to be an incredible experience. To our astonishment, on the morning of June 24, my mother was able to stand on her own legs and even take a few steps. This remarkable progress was made possible due to the advanced assistance of robotics arm and Artificial Intelligence.

Dr. Aashish Arbat is an exceptional and highly experienced surgeon, and we are immensely grateful for his expertise. We also extend our appreciation to his colleagues, Dr. Sharma and Dr. Ram, for their excellent skills and compassionate nature. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the entire team for enabling my mother to live a pain-free life
